Choosing The Perfecf Garden For You
If you want an extra hobby to take on, or maybe just want another home improvement idea then you may want to plant a garden. But when you do this, you are going to have to decide on what kind of garden you are going to get, as there are many kinds and they all require different types of maintenance. For instance, if you want a garden that will improve the look of your home, and you do not want to put too much work in the upkeep of it, you may want to get a flower garden.
Most flowers are very low maintenance and they will grow year round, such as the Perennial flowers, although there are other types of flowers that will only blossom and bloom certain times of the year. So make sure that when you are buying the flower or the seeds, to make sure that you do proper research and make sure it is something that you are going to be able to take care of.
You do not want to pick a type of flower for your garden that is going to die if you forget to water or feed it, and then your garden is going to look like crap. Places like Home Depot and Lowes have excellent gardening sections that have several types of flowers and usually a brief summary of how hard the flower will be to take care of.
If you are feeling like you can handle something that is more of a challenge, and much more rewarding than just looks, you may want to grow a vegetable garden. You must realize though that vegetable gardens are going to require more work and maintenance than flower gardens will. Some of the veggies that you can grow are beets, carrots, corn, along with many types of vegetables.
Now if you want to go all out, and probably the most rewarding out of all the types of gardens would be a fruit garden. The reason that fruit gardens are so hard to maintain is that there are so many factors, unlike that previous types of gardens I talked about. Most fruit gardens will not produce and grow year round, and you will also have to have specific soil and fertilizer for specific types of fruits.
Not only that fruit are targeted by pests and bugs that will eat your fruit. So not only do you have to worry about all of the other things, you have to have a pesticide that will kill the fruit eating pests, and at the same time will not kill your fruit plants. So if you want to have the ultimate garden that produces you a lot of food, be prepared to spend a couple hours a day working on it.
I hope that helped on making your decision on what kind of garden will be best for your home. If you are just wanting to have a garden for home improvement and looks, go with the flower garden. If you want to make your own vegetables or fruits, then be prepared to do a little to a lot of work.
